More than 200 First Bus drivers and administrative staff in Aberdeen are set to receive pay rises of up to 7.2% after a deal was secured.

Unite the Union announced on Wednesday that drivers had accepted an “enhanced pay offer” following rounds of negotiations.

The pay rises will be between 5.2% and 7% over the next two years, depending on job title and length of service.

Passenger Carrying Vehicle licence holders will receive £14 per hour after one year of service.

Administrative staff will receive either a flat-rate increase of £1,007, or up to 5.2% in year one and a minimum 2.2% in year two, whichever is greater.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite has successfully negotiated a pay deal at First Bus Aberdeen for around 200 workers. It’s another example of Unite delivering better jobs, pay and conditions across the bus industry.”

Isabella Sutherland, Unite industrial officer, said: “The deal over two years will produce a welcome pay boost for our members at First Bus Aberdeen. We are pleased the deal received the backing of our members.

“Unite is fully determined to ensure that we improve the rates of pay of bus workers across the north east.”
