A deer has died following a fall from cliffs, prompting fears it could have been “spooked by fireworks” in Aberdeenshire.
New Arc Wildlife Rescue was called to the scene on Sunday after the deer was found at a beach in Crovie.
The deer was found below the cliffs above the beach with “catastrophic injuries” including a fractured jaw, and multiple leg fractures.
The wildlife sanctuary said due to the extent of the animal’s suffering, it had to be euthanised immediately.
It added that there was a firework event on Saturday across from where the deer was found and speculated that the event “spooked” the deer before it fell.
New Arc Wildlife Rescue added: “Fireworks can be problematic for both vulnerable members of society, pets, livestock and wild animals.”
