A family have paid tribute to a “much loved” dad-of-four who died following a disturbance in Stonehaven.

David McGuinness was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after the incident around 10.40am on Broomhill Road.

The 30-year-old from Inverurie was later pronounced dead.

Police have arrested and charged a 50-year-old man in connection to an assault and he is due to appear before Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The family of Mr McGuiness released a statement through Police Scotland following his death.

They said: “David was a much loved son, partner, brother, uncle and doting father to his four young children. He will be sorely missed every day by all who knew him. The family are absolutely devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this difficult time. “

Detective inspector James Callander said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of David at this difficult time. The family have asked for privacy while they come to terms with this loss.”
