A family has been left “devastated” after a woman was killed by a dog at a home in Aberdeen.
Emergency services were called to reports of a dog attack inside a property on Foresterhill Road at around 11.15pm on Saturday.
Michelle McLeod was pronounced dead at the scene after being attacked by an American Bulldog, STV News understands.
The 41-year-old’s family has since released a statement via Police Scotland saying they are “devastated” by the loss.
“She was a much-loved mother, daughter and friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her,” the statement red.
“We would like to ask that our privacy be respected and allow us to grieve at this very difficult time.”
Police Scotland confirmed the dog involved has been put down as enquiries remain ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 11.15pm on Saturday, December 7, police received a report that a woman had been seriously injured by a dog within a flat on Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen.
“Emergency services attended but the 41-year-old woman died at the scene.
“Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“The dog has since been euthanised.”
