A light aircraft has been recovered from a field after crashing near to Perth Airport.

Fire crews and police were called to Scone around noon on Monday after reports of a light aircraft crash near the airfield.

Images from the scene showed a small white aircraft having crashed into a muddy field near Destiny Road.

Three fire appliances and specialist resources were sent to the scene by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

An eyewitness, who was visiting his son from Australia, told STV News they spotted the crash from their bedroom window.

They raced out to call out to the pilot, who had managed to free himself from the plane.

He said: “He was ok and asked to borrow my phone to let the control tower know that he was ok.

“Another passerby called emergency services. Quite a day that to be fair.”

Police confirmed no one was injured and enquiries are ongoing.

Perth Airport said the aircraft made a “precautionary landing” near the airfield and that it has now been recovered.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.10pm on Monday, November 10, 2025, officers were made aware of a light aircraft crash near Perth Airport.

“There were no reports of any injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.03pm on Monday, November 10 to an incident near Destiny Road, Scone, Perthshire.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the area where one small aircraft had landed in a field.

“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A spokesman for Perth Airport said: “We are aware that a light aircraft made a precautionary landing near Scone airfield earlier today.

“Emergency services attended the scene, and we are pleased to confirm that no injuries were reported.

“The aircraft has since been recovered, and the incident is now closed.

“We would like to thank the emergency services and all those who responded promptly and professionally.”
