A man who died following a crash on a major road in Aberdeenshire has been named by police.

Christopher Reid, 47, from Newtonhill, was killed in a collision between a blue motorcycle and a white car at around 4.20pm on Saturday, near Bridge of Muchalls.

The A92 was closed for more than 12 hours as officers carried out a full crash investigation.

Police are appealing for information as they continue enquiries into the collision.

Road policing sergeant Eoin Maxwell said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of Christopher at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries are continuing into the incident.

“Anyone who may have witnessed it or has dashcam footage which could assist in our investigation is encouraged to contact 101, quoting reference number 2624 of July 30.”
