An elderly woman has died in hospital three days after being hit by a van in a car park in Fraserburgh.

Kathleen Reid, 86, was in the car park near Albert Street around 12pm on Thursday when she was knocked down by a white Mercedes Sprinter.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment, where she was pronounced dead on Sunday. Her family has asked for privacy.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Dave Cooper said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died, and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. We are asking anyone who can assist with our investigation who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
