An elderly man has been injured after being assaulted by a driver in Dundee.

Officers were called to the scene at Scotston Gardens, near Craigiebarns Primary School, at around 3.35pm on Wednesday.

The driver of a grey BMW car exited his vehicle and attacked the 82-year-old pedestrian, before leaving the scene.

Police initially reported the incident as a hit and run, but have since established this was not the case.

They are following a positive line of enquiry, and have appealed for witnesses to the incident.

Inspector Chris Boath said: “We are following a positive line of enquiry and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or was in the area around the time, to please come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting incident 2045 of December 21.”
