SNS GroupDundee United boss Jim Goodwin will not be in the dugout for the Premiership clash against Kilmarnock after being admitted to hospital.
The 44-year-old took ill on Thursday and assistant manager Lee Sharp took the club’s training and pre-match media duties at their base in St Andrews on Friday.
Sharp had said that Goodwin intended to take the team as they look to bounce back from a difficult start but the club confirmed his absence before the game.
A statement from the club on X on Saturday, said: “Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin will not be in attendance at today’s fixture versus Kilmarnock as he continues to deal with an ongoing medical matter.
“The manager would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and comments over the last 24 hours.
“The club would ask that his privacy, and that of his family, is respected at this time.
“We do not intend to provide any further medical detail and will issue an update when appropriate.”
United are looking to pick up their first win of the season at Rugby Park after three straight defeats in all competitions.
They currently sit in 11th place in the table with one point from three games.
