A social care worker from Dundee has been struck off after stealing almost £10,000 from a vulnerable service user.

Quenta Duguid used the user’s bank cards to take £9,999 from various bank machines between July 2020 and March 2021.

Duguid was convicted of the offence at Forfar Sherrif Court on August 26, 2024.

A report by the Scottish Social Services Council found that Duguid had not engaged with the investigation and had not shown any “insight or regret.”

Other factors of concern were that she had not provided an apology to the service user and that her actions were not an “isolated incident” having taken place over several months.

The report went on to say: “Your conduct is extremely serious and constitutes financial abuse and a significant breach of trust.”

The report concluded that Duguid’s actions were “fundamentally incompatible” with her remaining on the register.

It was highlighted that there would be an “expectation” from the public for action to be taken to ensure the protection of service users.

The SSSC found that a removal order was the most suitable sanction in order “to maintain the continuing trust and confidence in the social service profession”.

Dugiud was struck off on February 20, 2025.
