Driver rescued by Coastguard after car crashes onto beach

Emergency services were called to the Esplanade in Aberdeen at around 5.25pm on Tuesday.

A driver was rescued by the Coastguard after a car crashed onto Aberdeen beach.

Police, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and Aberdeen Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the beach esplanade at 5.25pm on Tuesday, January 7.

The driver was recovered from the vehicle and was checked by medical staff.

Officers remain in attendance at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.25pm on Tuesday, 7 January, 2025, we were called to a report of a road crash involving one car at Esplanade, Aberdeen.

“Officers are in attendance.

“The driver of the car is out the vehicle and being checked by medical staff.”

A coastguard spokesperson said: “Aberdeen Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to a report of a car going onto the beach at the Esplanade, Aberdeen.

“HM Coastguard was informed at about 5.45pm on January 7. Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were also alerted.”
