Driver dies following collision with lorry which closed A9 for 12 hours

A driver has died after a collision with a lorry on the A9, which closed the road for more than 12 hours.

Emergency services were called to the scene south of Dunkeld around 6am on Friday morning, following a collision involving a grey Audi A4 and a white Scania HGV.

The 46-year-old male driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.

The lorry driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The A9 was closed for more than 12 hours following the crash to allow investigations to be carried out and vehicles to be recovered.

The road later reopened around 6.30pm.

Sergeant David Farr said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to get in contact with officers.

“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
