A driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a car and an articulated tanker in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on the A956 Wellington Road around 12.15pm on Friday near to Loirston Loch.

The crash involved a white Scania articulated tanker and a black Mazda 2 car.

The driver of the Mazda, a 75-year-old woman, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

No one else was injured.

Sergeant Pete Henderson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area at the time, please check any dash-cam footage you have to see if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”
