A man was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog at a home in Perth and Kinross.

Police were called to the property on Eagle Avenue in Auchterarder around 6.40pm on Friday.

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack and was later released.

Officers in protective gear removed the dog from the property and transported the animal to a veterinary practice to be euthanised.

The breed of the dog has not been confirmed, however it is understood it was not an XL bully-type.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.40pm on Friday, February 23, 2024 we received a report of a man having been injured by a dog at an address on Eagle Avenue, Auchterarder. 

“The 40-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment and later released. 

“The dog was removed from the property and taken to be euthanised.”
