An explorer from Essex who is walking the entire length of the British mainland coastline in aid of charity is currently making her way down the east coast of Scotland.
Linzi Bell left London’s Greenwich Park on March 1 and has so far travelled more than 5,000 miles.
The 46-year-old hopes to set a new world record as the first person to navigate the British mainland coastline without using ferries, as well as aiming to inspire people to head outdoors.
While passing through Dundee, Linzi told STV News: “How am I feeling? Pretty awesome! Pretty connected, full, happy and very grateful.
“I’ve covered up to 45 miles in one day and that’s because of my time being emersed with nature, you know, everything is new!
“Whether it’s a butterfly, a slug or a sunrise. A human being coming up and going, ‘hello! are you Linzi?’
“There isn’t one day that’s been the same, so that’s how I manage to get up every morning and go, right – let’s go! Let’s go and see what happens today.”
While travelling through communities, people have joined Linzi on her 7,000-mile trek, which included summiting the UK’s three highest peaks.
‘Scotland has a beauty of its own.’

Linzi said: “Ben Nevis was incredible, and I think there were 12 people who joined me which again, that’s what this is all about. But coming into Scotland, I have to say, it has a huge chunk of my heart with it now.
“I stepped into first gear where my mind and body had been pushed to exceed far what I thought it could do, and now I’m at gear seven.
“I’m in my seventh gear of energy, mindset and some of that is very much due to Scotland’s natural beauty.”
Linzi has been regularly walking outdoors for five years having fallen in love with the pasttime during the Covid lockdowns.
But this latest challenge is also raising money for the mental health charity Mind, and National Trails UK.
Linzi added: “It’s to inspire people to get outdoors, this is completely and utterly free for us to go and immerse ourselves in, and connect with others in.
“So, I have a little live beacon on me and over the last two days, I’ve had I say 11 people join me, just using that live beacon so come and wiggle, come and do a mile and enjoy a smile with me!”
With just over 2,000 miles to go, Linzi hopes she’s on her way to setting the world record as she continues to walk, chat and dance with people on her southern leg home to Greenwich Park on December 23, just in time for Christmas.
