A deer has been euthanised after it was knocked down by a police vehicle at Donald Trump’s golf course in Aberdeenshire ahead of the US President’s arrival.
Trump is due to arrive in Scotland on Friday and will visit the links course near Balmedie during the five-day visit.
The US President is visiting in a private capacity, ahead of a full-blown state visit to the UK later this year. He will meet First Minister John Swinney and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during his stay.
Officers from across the United Kingdom have been drafted to Scotland to take part in the significant police operation. Security measures at the Menie estate in Aberdeenshire and Turnberry golf course have also been bolstered.
New Arc Wildlife Rescue confirmed they were called to the north east course at around 5.30am on Friday following reports of a deer struck by a police vehicle.
Due to the animal’s injuries, it had to be euthanised at the scene.
A social media statement read: “We were called by Police Scotland at 5.30am this morning after a police vehicle taking part in the security operation at Trump International, Scotland Golf Course in Aberdeen had struck a deer.
“Certainly not your average start to the day for our centre co-manager Paul who volunteers his time out of hours for deer emergencies.
“Sadly the deer’s injuries meant the deer was beyond saving so had to be euthanised at the scene.
“Thank you to the police, security team and estate managers who assisted with the incident.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Shortly before 5.20 am on Friday, July 25, 2025, a police vehicle was in collision with a deer on the B977 in the vicinity of the Menie Estate.
“Staff from a local animal charity attended to humanely euthanise the animal. No-one was injured.”
