Cannabis worth £1.26m found in raids with over 2,000 plants discovered in Tayside

Drugs with a potential street value of £1.26m have been recovered across three sites in Tayside.

Officers searched a premises at an industrial estate on Nobel Road in Dundee on Wednesday where 800 cannabis plants worth around £480,000 were discovered.

A search of at a second location, a property on Ledmore Terrace in Dundee, around 2pm on Thursday uncovered 300 plants worth around £180,000.

At 8pm the same evening, officers searched a derelict property on Allen Street in Blairgowrie and found 1,000 plants, estimated to be worth around £600,000.

Police confirmed a 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.

He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday, August 9 and enquiries remain ongoing, say police.

Detective Sergeant David Feeney said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances.

“Officers are removing drugs from communities right across Scotland day in, day out and information provided by the public is vital in helping us continue to do this.

“I would specifically ask anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour in and around buildings that aren’t frequently occupied, such as people coming and going at unusual times, or has concerns regarding drug productions and crime in their area, to report this so we can investigate.”
