A Buckie hotel has revealed what it was like to play host to a Hollywood blockbuster production crew.

The Seafield Arms Hotel was the base of operations for dozens of The Odyssey crew members while the movie was filmed on the Moray coast.

The Christopher Nolan epic, which was recently released in cinemas, stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.

Matt Damon was frequently spotted in and around the town of Buckie, attending the gym and a nearby go-kart track.

Now, following the movie’s release, the Seafield Arms Hotel spilled some filming secrets that they have kept under wraps for months.

Back in the summer of 2025, the hotel was “exclusively occupied” by the cast and crew, with the hotel’s ballroom turned into a screening room.

In a post on social media, the hotel explained: “One of the most fascinating parts of the production was the transformation of our Grand Ballroom.

“It was completely boarded up and, each evening, the day’s filming was played back using an antique projector specially transported from a museum in England.

“Watching cinema history unfold in such a unique way was something we’ll never forget.”

In addition, the hotel’s private dining room were transformed into editing suites, with editors working on cuts of the film there and then.

The experience had such an impact that hotel bosses decided to transform the rooms used by the crew into a Greek-style Odyssey residence.

Leading man Matt Damon also stayed at the Seafield Arms Hotel during filming, a fact that has now been confirmed by the hotel.

Co-star Samantha Morton was also at the hotel during production.

The hotel added: “Hosting a production of this scale was an incredible experience for our team and a proud moment for the Seafield Arms Hotel, Cullen and the wider Moray coast.

“Seeing our beautiful coastline on the big screen is something we’re sure will inspire many more visitors to discover this special part of Scotland.”
