'Someone must know something': Brother of missing man appeals for information two years on

The brother of a missing man from Wishaw, last seen two years ago, has urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.

Kevin Young was last seen in the Glasgow Road area of the town on July 30, 2024.

The 41-year-old is originally from Dundee and is known to have travelled between there and Wishaw by bus.

Speaking two years on from when Kevin was last seen, his brother said: “Someone must know something about where my brother is, or where he was last seen.

“I truly don’t believe that my brother would be able to stay away this long without contact to, or from, anyone. If anyone has any information at all please contact the police.”

Potential sightings of Kevin were reported to police up until November 2024, when he may have travelled to Dundee.

Detectives say it is unusual for Kevin not to be in touch with his family or friends for such a long period of time, prompting concerns for his welfare.

He is described as around 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build and has short, brown hair.

Inspector Jim Mutter, of Wishaw Police Station said: “It is now coming close to two years since Kevin was last seen, and I have concerns for his safety and welfare.

“I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information about Kevin’s disappearance, whether that be since he was reported missing or from before he disappeared, to get in touch with officers.

“Kevin is from Dundee and was known to regularly visit the city, despite living in Wishaw, where he was also well known.

“It is unusual for Kevin not to be in contact with his friends and family for such a long time and I know that his family are desperate for some information that would answer their questions on his disappearance.

“I would also appeal to Kevin, if you are reading this, please contact police or your family.”
