Boy, six, rushed to Victoria Hospital after being struck by a car in Glenrothes

A six-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car near a primary school in Fife.

The collision occurred just before 9am on Friday on Bighty Road in Glenrothes, near Carleton Primary School.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance, were called to the scene and the boy was taken to hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson said: “Around 8.50am on Friday, August 28, police received a report of a crash involving a child and a car on Bighty Road, Glenrothes.

“The six-year-old boy was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

An ambulance spokesperson said: ““We received a call at 8.44am to attend a road traffic collision on Bighty Avenue, Glenrothes.

“We dispatched an ambulance to the scene, and we transported one patient to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.”
