A boy has been charged after a primary school was closed down following a ‘deliberate’ blaze in Aberdeenshire.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to Dales Park school on Berryden Road in Peterhead at around 3am on May 22.
Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters extinguished the blaze, leaving around five hours later.
There were no reported casualties. The school was closed down to all pupils and staff due to the fire, and temporary arrangements were made to house pupils.
The school later reopened two weeks on from the blaze on June 2.
Police have confirmed a male youth has now been charged in connection with the fire.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
Officers thanked the public for their assistance during enquiries.
