Book Bench Trail: 79 sculptures tell cancer stories

The Book Bench Trail, created by Clan Cancer Support, features dozens of colourful sculptures — each one telling a different story.

A new art trail launched across the North East is encouraging people to open up about their experiences with cancer.

The Book Bench Trail, created by Clan Cancer Support, features dozens of colourful sculptures — each one telling a different story.

There are 79 sculptures, scattered across Aberdeen City and Shire, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

They’ve been created by forty different artists – and each one has its own unique design.

One in two of us will face a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime.

And those behind the Book Bench initiative say that starting the conversation can be the first step in facing it head on.

The benches will remain on display until August — all plotted on a dedicated app where visitors can track their trail.

They’ll be auctioned off in October to raise vital funds for cancer support services
