The body of a pensioner has been found following a caravan fire in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze on land in the East Mains of Pitfour area near Mintlaw shortly after 7am on Wednesday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service discovered the body of the 77-year-old man after extinguishing the flames.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
