Emergency services pull body of teenager from river

The body of a teenager has been pulled from the River Don in Aberdeen.

Police confirmed officers received a report of concern for a person in the Gordon Mills Road area near Diamond Bridge at around 2.10pm on Tuesday, July 16.

The body of an 18-year-old woman was pulled from the water after emergency services attended.

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent one appliance and a water rescue unit to the scene.

Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 2.10pm on Tuesday, July 16, we received a report of a concern for a person in the Gordon Mills Road area of Aberdeen.

“Emergency services attended and a body of an 18-year-old female was recovered from the water.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 2.09pm on Tuesday, July 16 to assist emergency service partners at Diamond Bridge, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and water rescue unit to the scene.

“Crews left at 3.15pm after ensuring the area was made safe.”
