A body has been found near a busy dual carriageway amid a search for a man missing from Merseyside.
Officers were made aware of the discovery off the A90 between Brechin and Laurencekirk on Wednesday afternoon.
Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of Kenneth Unsworth, who has been missing for six days, have been informed.
The 46-year-old was last seen on Thursday.
In a missing person appeal released earlier this week, police revealed that they believed Mr Unsworth had travelled north to Tayside or Aberdeenshire.
Officers say the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
