A school in Aberdeenshire has been closed due to flooding after the area was hit by hailstones and heavy rain.
The streets of Oldmeldrum were left blanketed in white after the downpour on Tuesday afternoon.
Following the adverse weather, Meldrum School was forced to close early after the building experienced “significant flooding”.
Aberdeenshire Council has confirmed that the school will remain closed for the remainder of the week due to the damage.
A sports awards ceremony due to take place has also been cancelled.
St Andrews Links/FacebookElsewhere, play was suspended at the famous Old Course at St Andrews after it was also hit by hail on the same day.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: “Following the flooding on Tuesday afternoon, it will be necessary to keep the school closed to pupils for the remainder of this week.
Fubar News“This is to ensure that all affected areas can dry and be cleaned, as well as to allow electrics and security systems to be fully checked to support the safe return of pupils and staff to the building.
“Online learning will be offered to pupils for the remainder of the week.
“The school is due to reopen on Monday (June 15).”
