An Aberdeenshire couple have lost their home and two “beloved” dogs in a house fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the dwelling fire on the Logie Estate in Pitcaple, Inverurie at 7.56pm on Wednesday.

Fire crews from four appliances were sent to the scene and extinguished the well-developed blaze after around five hours.

The fundraiser, launched by staff at Logie Country House, has already raised more than £22,000 for their friends Iain and Emma.

A post on the GoFundMe read: “Last night, our dear friends Iain and Emma lost their beautiful home, St. Kilda, on the Logie Estate – a place filled with love, warmth, and so many happy memories.

“It wasn’t just a house. It was their sanctuary. A home they’ve cherished for over a decade, where they built a life full of laughter, friendship and love.

“They shared it with their beloved dogs – sweet Winnie, who they had already lost, and their two adored Patterdale terrier brothers, who heartbreakingly did not survive the fire.

“To know Emma and Iain is to love them. They are the kindest, most generous people – the very best neighbours and friends anyone could ask for.

“Always there for others, always giving, always full of warmth and laughter.

“Now it’s our turn to be there for them.

“They have lost so much and the road ahead will be incredibly difficult. We hope to raise some support to help them begin again – to ease even a small part of the burden as they start to rebuild their lives.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.56pm on Wednesday, April 29, to reports of a dwelling fire in Logie Estate in Pitcaple, Inverurie.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene, and firefighters worked to extinguish a well-developed building fire.

“There were no casualties and crews left the scene just before midnight.”
