Mother’s Day is set to be extra special at an Aberdeenshire Asda where three workers are all expecting babies.

Chelsea Clark, Alyson Barwick and Becky Wood, who work together at Asda Portlethen, are all marking the occasion as they count down the days for their special deliveries to arrive.

Fresh Team leader Chelsea, who celebrates ten years with Asda next month, is expecting her first baby at the end of April.

“It feels really special to be celebrating Mother’s Day as a mum-to-be,” she said. “It’s been helpful chatting with my colleagues about everything that comes with it and I’ve been able to ask them for advice as it’s my first baby.

“We’ve been getting all organised and whenever we go into Asda to do a shop, I always end up buying the baby clothes that I’ve spotted during my shift!”

Store community champion Alyson, who has worked at the store for 13 years, is expecting her second child – a baby girl – on June 25. She says sharing the experience with her colleagues has made her journey even more memorable.

“Mother’s Day feels really special knowing I’ve another little one on the way,” said Alyson. “It’s been lovely having Chelsea and Becky going through pregnancy at the same time, we’ve been able to share all the laughs and challenges that come with it.

“We have a few baby names in mind, but we’re not completely set on any yet. I’ve loved hearing my colleagues’ suggestions too!”

Meanwhile, grocery colleague Becky, who is already on maternity leave ahead of her due date of April 6, is preparing to welcome her second child, a baby boy.

She said: “Mother’s Day feels even more meaningful now I’m a mum, and it’s lovely to have an extra reason to celebrate my mum and mother-in-law as they’re grandmothers too.

“I’ve kept lots of things from when I had my first baby, but that didn’t stop me stocking up on stuff before I went on maternity leave – I couldn’t help buying things when I was at work.

“I have my hospital bag packed and ready to go and I’m looking forward to bringing both my children in to visit everyone at Asda in a few weeks so everyone can meet the new arrival!”
