Aberdeen granted permanent licence to sell alcohol at Pittodrie

Aberdeen has been granted a permanent licence to sell alcohol to supporters at Pittodrie.

Fans will be able to buy alcoholic drinks in the Richard Donald Stand Lower concourse area until 30 minutes before kick-off.

The permanent alcohol licence was granted by Aberdeen City Council after two successful alcohol trials last season.

It will come into effect for the club’s first home match of the season against Hearts on Saturday, August 1.

The club have said that previous initiatives at Pittodrie demonstrated a managed approach to alcohol sales can support a “positive and safe” matchday experience.

In addition to the introduction of the alcohol licence, the club is holding initiatives including live music, fan engagement activities and family-friendly entertainment

“We are pleased to have secured a permanent alcohol licence for matchdays at Pittodrie”, Alan Burrows, Aberdeen FC chief executive, said.

“Supporter feedback has consistently highlighted the value of providing a more modern and flexible stadium experience.

“We have worked closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the necessary safeguards and operating procedures are in place.

“The Club is grateful for the positive feedback from supporters about how previous alcohol licence trials had improved the matchday experience, and we look forward to introducing this enhancement from our opening home league fixture against Hearts.”
