A man has been seriously injured after being attacked while waiting at a traffic light in Aberdeen.
The 56-year-old victim was in a blue Mazda at traffic lights on Anderson Drive, beside the Queens Road roundabout, around 10am on Monday, when he was targeted.
An unknown man approached the car from a dark-coloured hatchback-style vehicle and proceeded to attack the man.
When the victim exited the vehicle, the suspect pushed him to the ground, causing serious injury.
While the attack was taking place, the Mazda rolled down the hill and collided with two parked cars which have been damaged as a result.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect is described as a white male, slim build, 5ft 11 in tall, with slight facial hair, dark-coloured hair, and wearing dark clothing.
Police are treating the incident as unprovoked.
Constable Jade Buchan said: “This appears to have been a serious and unprovoked attack which has left a man requiring hospital treatment.
“It is vital that we trace the person responsible, and we’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward.
“We’d particularly like to hear from any drivers with dashcam footage of significance, or any other information which could help us establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.”
