A beach in Aberdeen has reopened after a suspected unexploded device was discovered on Tuesday.

Officers were called to a report of suspected ordnance on Aberdeen Beach Esplanade around 9.25am.

Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were sent to the scene and the item was safely removed.

A statement read: “The cordon has been removed from Aberdeen Beach Esplanade following a report of a suspected unexploded ordnance yesterday.

“Officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and removed the item.

“Members of the public are thanked for their co-operation.”
