Aberdeen Asda superstore closed after fire breaks out

An Asda Superstore has been closed to staff and customers after a fire broke out during the early hours of Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Jesmond Drive in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen following reports of a blaze at the Middleton Park store at 4.55am.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four appliances to the scene to tackle the flames within the building.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported during the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.55am on Monday, March 3 to reports of a fire within a building in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the city’s Jesmond Drive, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

“There were no casualties.”

Asda has confirmed the store will remain closed until further notice.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve had to temporarily close our Middleton Park Superstore this morning and will let the community know when the store re-opens.

“In the meantime, customers can be assured that our fantastic colleagues are ready to serve them at our Aberdeen Beach Superstore, which remains open.”
