The A90 has been shut for more than 12 hours near Dundee after a 28-year-old was found dead.

The A90 remains closed in both directions after a woman’s body was found on the road in Dundee.

Emergency services were called to the Kingsway West, near Macalpine Road, at around 10.35pm on Thursday.

The body of a 28-year-old woman was recovered and her next of kin were made aware, police said.

Officers have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, which is being treated as unexplained.

The road between Coupar Angus Interchange and Strathmartine Roundabout, at Clepington Road Roundabout, remains closed as of 4pm on Friday as investigations take place.

Traffic Scotland said the route remains shut due to a “serious collision”.

Drivers are being urged to use an alternative route.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.35pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023, police were called to the A90 Kingsway West in Dundee, near Macalpine Road, following the recovery of the body of a 28-year-old woman.

“Next of kin have been made aware and the death is being treated as unexplained, pending further enquiries. The road remains closed as the investigation continues.

“Anyone who was in the area on the night of Thursday, July 27, and has any information, or possible dashcam footage, is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 4314 of July 27, 2023.”
