The A9 has been closed in both directions after a lorry burst into flames in Perth and Kinross.
Emergency services are tackling the blaze on the major road between the Broxden roundabout and Tibbermore junction near Perth.
Crews were alerted around 2.40pm on Tuesday and remain in attendance.
There are not said to be any reported injuries with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service deploying three appliances to the scene.
An eyewitness at the scene reported a “toxic smell of burning plastic” on the road.
Traffic Scotland shared an image of the HGV stopped on the carriageway with flames visible from the front of the vehicle.
Drivers are being urged to use alternative routes, with police assisting in directing traffic
A Police Scotland statement read: “The A9 is closed in both directions between Broxden roundabout and Tibbermore junction near Perth, following a report of a lorry fire around 2.40pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
“There are no reports of any injuries and emergency services are in attendance.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.15pm on Tuesday, March 4 to reports of a lorry fire on the A9 southbound.
“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, near Broxden, where firefighters are working to extinguish the fire.
“There are no reported casualties.”
