A school has been closed in Aberdeen after a fire was deliberately started at a neighbouring police station.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Dyce at around 7.20am on Tuesday.

Parents were informed on Tuesday morning that Dyce Primary School would be closed due to its proximity to the police station.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that officers are in attendance at Dyce Police Station following reports of an attempted fire-raising incident at approximately 7.20am.

"The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended, however nothing caught fire. A silver Volkswagen car was seen in the area at the time and officers are keen for anyone who may have seen this car or witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch."

Police confirmed there was no fire at the school.
