Four people have been left seriously injured following a head-on collision between two cars.

An air ambulance and four road ambulances were sent to the scene of the crash on the A96 between Mosstodloch and Lhanbryde, Moray.

Two people are understood to have been trapped in their vehicle by the crash, which happened at 4pm on Wednesday.

A 29-year-old man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, while a 23-year-old woman, 24-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We had four road ambulances and an air ambulance in attendance at a two-vehicle head-on collision on the A96."
