A former boxer known as the "Aberdeen Assassin" has been cleared of assaulting a woman in a bar.

Lee McAllister was alleged to have attacked Ashlea Miller by pulling her to the ground by her hair in Prohibition, Aberdeen.

The 33-year-old went on trial at the city's sheriff court on Tuesday, when he denied the charge.

Ms Miller said she was out drinking with McAllister and other friends on the night the alleged incident happened.

She said she had fallen to the ground herself and insisted they were just "messing around".

Fiscal depute Kirsty Lyons asked: "What happened once you got to Prohibition?"

Ms Miller replied: "Me and Lee were having banter as usual and then I fell over on the dance floor."

The court was shown CCTV footage of Ms Miller falling on to the floor of the city centre pub.

Ms Lyons told the court the Crown would no longer be seeking to prosecute McAllister and he was cleared of the charge.

The former boxer is currently serving a nine-month jail sentence for assaulting a man in a kebab shop attack last year.

The father-of-two, of Granitehill Terrace in Aberdeen, broke Jonathan Hay's jaw with a single punch in the Marmaris takeaway on June 17.

The man's girlfriend had taken exception to the former Commonwealth boxing champ's late night antics and made a "offensive gesture" at him.

When he confronted the woman about it, her boyfriend stepped in between the pair and ended up getting beaten up by the retired lightweight.

McAllister appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in December and admitted assault to severe injury.

The former IBO International light-welterweight champion was served with an antisocial behaviour order two weeks later banning him from the city centre. He is not allowed near pubs and clubs in Aberdeen after 7pm at night.
