Sheepdogs stolen from a farm in Aberdeenshire have been reunited with their owner.

The border collies were found at the weekend near Alford, 18 miles from Roddy Scarborough's farm in Huntly.

He believes three of the dogs escaped their captors after being taken from locked kennels on Wednesday night, while another dog found six miles away from the others is thought to have been abandoned by the thieves.

Mr Scarborough said: "A guy found three of the dogs on Friday after spotting one of them on the road in Alford. The last dog was found about six miles away the next day - she had obviously been of no value to the thieves and been dumped.

"I think they escaped from where they were being kept and I'm very relieved. It's horrible that this sort of thing happens, the impact on my business would have been horrendous.

"We're going to put up CCTV cameras to make sure it's not going to happen again."

Nobody has been charged in connection with the thefts.
