Aberdeen's Union Terrace Gardens has been cordoned off after a woman was assaulted.

Police were called to the city centre park following the attack at around 3am on Thursday.

Officers and forensic teams were examining the scene on Thursday morning.

Police Scotland has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact them on 101.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland is carrying out enquiries after a report of an assault on a female in Union Terrace Gardens, Aberdeen, at around 3am today.

"Enquiries are at an early stage and we would ask for anyone who was in the area around the time and saw anything to contact police on 101."
