A 16-year-old boy is to appear in court in connection with a fatal stabbing at an Aberdeen school.

Bailey Gwynne died of his injuries in hospital following the incident at Cults Academy on October 28.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in November and was remanded in custody.

He is next expected to appear at Glasgow High Court for a preliminary hearing on February 23.

Bailey Gwynne died at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after suffering what medics described as a "penetrating sharp force injury".

Following his death, hundreds of his fellow pupils attended a candlelit vigil at Cults Parish Church.
