A pensioner has died after he was struck by two cars as he crossed a road.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the collision in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday afternoon.

The 83-year-old man died after being struck by the cars as he crossed the A96 Inverurie to Huntly road at Colpy at around 5.30pm.

The road was closed while the crash scene was cleared and officers carried out inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It is understood the drivers were not injured.
