Charges against a woman accused of assaulting children at a private school in Aberdeen have been dropped.

Hannah Jamieson was accused of attacking youngsters at the Hamilton School over a number of months in 2013.

But the Crown Office now says it is "no longer in the public interest" to pursue a prosecution over the alleged incidents.

The decision is understood to have been made as a result of issues relating to Ms Jamieson's health.

A spokesman for the Crown Office said: "It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review and as a result of further information provided about the circumstances of the alleged offences and the accused, Crown Counsel took the view that it was no longer in the public interest to continue with this prosecution."

The Hamilton School closed shortly after the allegations came to light.
