Stars from a galaxy far, far away have swapped life in space for oil rigs off the coast of Scotland.

Craig Mann, who usually photographs landscapes, decided to find out how Darth Vader Princess Leia, R2-D2, and C-3PO would cope aboard an oil rig.

The 31-year-old from Shetland took pictures during his downtime in the Cromarty Firth and then added images of Star Wars characters.

He said: "Since the news about the oil and gas industry is all doom and gloom at the moment I thought it was worth doing something a bit lighthearted.

"I thought I would take my camera and mix in images from Star Wars since it's really popular just now."

Since posting the images to Facebook, the pictures have been shared hundreds of times by workers in the oil and gas sector as far away as New Zealand.

Mr Mann said: "The Princess Leia one is one of my favourites, as it was one of the simpler ones to do but it looks really effective. I also like the ones of the ship in place of a helicopter on the launch pad.

"My colleagues like the one of Darth Vader sitting in my offshore manager’s office, even he seemed to like it."
