Man arrested over firearms incident at Aberdeen Council building

A 38-year-old was detained by police following the incident at the city's Marischal College.

A man has been arrested after police were called to a firearms incident in the Aberdeen City Council headquarters.

Officers arrived at Marischal College in the city shortly after 3.20pm on Tuesday following reports of the man carrying what appeared to be a gun in the building’s reception area.

He was arrested and detained in custody. No one was injured in the incident.

A police spokeswoman said the man was aged 38 and enquiries were ongoing.
