A woman is fighting for her life and a man is in hospital after a serious crash on the A833 in the Highlands.

At around 10.45am on Friday, a silver Honda Jazz and a white Volkswagen Tiguan towing a 14ft Ifor Williams trailer were involved in the collision at Culnakirk near Drumnadrochit.

The driver of the Honda, a 41-year-old man, and the car’s front passenger, a 33-year-old woman, were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.

The man’s condition is described as stable but the woman’s condition is critical.

The driver of the Volkswagen was uninjured.

The A833 was closed following the crash and reopened at around 4.40pm.

Road Policing sergeant Angus Macleod said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and can help with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances to get in touch.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation then please contact us.”

Anyone who can assist officers has been asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1009 of Friday, February 4, 2022.
