Police are appealing for witnesses after a 71-year-old woman was struck by a car and left seriously injured in the Highlands.
An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident that took place on Friday.
The pensioner was walking in the Thornbush area of Inverness at around 5.20pm when the collision took place.
Emergency services attended and she was taken to Raigmore Hospital where staff have described her injuries as serious.
The teenager, who was driving a red Mazda 3 car, has been arrested in connection with an alleged road traffic offence and inquiries are ongoing.
Investigating officers are particularly looking to speak to the driver of a silver or grey saloon-style car who was in the area at the time, as they seek to establish the full circumstances.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay, of the force’s Highland & Islands road policing unit, said officers were seeking to “establish the full circumstances which led to this collision”.
He added: “We would be particularly keen to speak to a potential witness who was the driver of an unidentified silver or grey saloon-style car which passed shortly before the incident happened, or to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.”
