Two people have been taken to hospital after a four-car crash closed the A96 in both directions.

Emergency services were called to a collision on the road near the Newton of Petty, Dalcross, at around 10.43am on Wednesday.

Two people were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by ambulance. Their current condition is unknown.

The route was closed in both directions following the crash, but has since reopened.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.43am to attend a road traffic collision at Newton of Petty on the A96.

“We dispatched a resource to the scene and two patients were transported to Raigmore Hospital.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30am on Wednesday, January 25, police were called to a report of a road crash involving four vehicles on the A96 at Dalcross.

“Officers attended and the vehicles were recovered.”
