Twin snow leopards born in Highlands confirmed as boy and girl

Newborn twin snow leopards in the Highlands have been confirmed as a boy and a girl.

The Highland Wildlife Park welcomed the cubs, who are yet to be named, in May after mum, Pari, gave birth.

Their first routine health check was conducted on Wednesday, with vets confirming the sex of the eight-week-old cubs.

The twins were weighed and had their eyes and teeth checked. They also received their first vaccinations and were wormed and microchipped. The pair are both in good health and weigh around 3.5kg.

Lucy Petrie, animal operations manager at Highland Wildlife Park said: “We were thrilled to welcome two snow leopard cubs to mum Pari and dad Koshi earlier this year. It is very exciting to find out we have a boy and a girl and that they are both in good health.

“They are becoming more confident every day and it is incredible to see them grow and develop. It is lovely to see how excited visitors are when they catch a glimpse of the cubs as they explore further from the cubbing den.”

Due to their age, the pair are still dependent on mum and are spending much of their time in the cubbing den.
