Three people are in hospital after a crash involving two motorbikes shut down the A87 for over seven hours.

Emergency services were called to the crash, involving a black Royal Enfield Himalayan motorbike and a grey Yamaha MT-09 Tracer motorbike, near Loch Cluanie at around 2.55pm on Monday.

The rider of the Enfield, a 42-year-old man, and the pillion, a 34-year-old woman, were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance.

Their condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

The rider of the Yamaha, a 39-year-old man, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance where his condition is described as stable.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 10.10pm.

Sergeant Chris Donaldson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area around the time of the crash please check any dash-cam footage you have and call us if you have captured anything.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1890 of Monday, June 15, 2026.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 2.57pm on June 15 to attend a road traffic collision on the A87 near Bun Loyne.

“Three ambulances, two doctors, and three air ambulances, two with critical care teams, were dispatched to the scene. Two patients were transported by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and one patient was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
