Over a thousand homes in the Western Isles and Skye were left without power following an unplanned outage on Friday morning.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was notified of the issue at around 5am on October 5 with some residents left unable to use their mobile phones.
The power cut is believed to still be impacting 1,208 properties over a large area on Skye.
Engineers have been on the scene since 5.30am. and have identified the root of the problem as a fault on SSEN’s overhead network.
The issue is usually resolved by replacing a fuse at the local substation. It is hoped that power will be restored by 12pm.
A statement on the SSEN website read: “We’re aware of a power cut in the area, affecting 1,208 homes.
“This unplanned fault is affecting a large area, and it’s likely several streets in the area will be affected by the same power cut”
